What would have been the impact if none of this housing was built? Would it have made the situation better? I think it’s unrealistic to expect private development to solve all problems, but data from other cities show that as long as the jobs are there, new residents will move in. And if there is no new construction they will move somewhere, and often that is older housing stock that is renovated and rented for a higher price.
